Meet the Founder

I KNOW WHAT DOESN’T WORK — BECAUSE I’VE LIVED IT.STEPHEN WILSON’S BACKGROUND IS UNUSUAL BY ANY STANDARD.Ten years in the British Army included specialist operational and counter-terrorism roles, close protection in hostile environments and mentoring foreign forces overseas. He later worked internationally with UHNW private clients in executive close protection and highly personal support roles. Those environments demanded discretion, judgement, situational awareness and the ability to remain calm when circumstances became unpredictable.THAT IS ONE HALF OF THE RISING PHOENIX STORY.THE OTHER CAME FROM EXPERIENCING ADDICTION, TREATMENT AND RECOVERY FROM THE INSIDE.Stephen spent significant time in and around some of Los Angeles’ best-known private recovery environments, working with senior psychiatrists, therapists and highly regarded recovery professionals — not simply observing the system, but experiencing it as the person it was trying to help.

Stephen’s own experience taught him that even excellent treatment does not automatically translate into lasting recovery in everyday life.Medication also formed a significant part of Stephen’s own treatment history. Over the years, this included psychiatric medication, sleep medication, medications used to support alcohol recovery and smoking cessation, as well as numerous changes between different treatment approaches. He experienced first-hand how medication transitions, side effects, withdrawal and adjustment periods can themselves become testing times for someone already trying to recover. For Stephen, medication did not ultimately create the lasting change he was searching for. Today, his own recovery is maintained without psychiatric medication — through structure, physical training, routine, accountability, purpose, continued personal responsibility and the deeper work of self-examination, understanding patterns and addressing what was driving the destructive cycle.Medication decisions are individual and remain a matter for the client and their qualified medical team. Rising Phoenix does not prescribe, alter or recommend discontinuation of medication.THE PROBLEM IS NOT ALWAYS A LACK OF TREATMENT.Complex cases often involve multiple moving parts — clinicians, family members, recovery professionals, personal assistants, security teams and the client themselves. When communication between them breaks down, each person can be working from a different picture of what is actually happening. Important context can be missed, minimised or misunderstood. One small disconnect can then influence the next decision, creating a chain of actions based on incomplete information.THAT IS OFTEN WHERE THE CRACKS BEGIN TO APPEAR.And some of the most important moments happen outside the consulting room — between appointments, during travel, at 2am, after discharge, when resistance appears, or when real life begins again.THAT IS THE GAP RISING PHOENIX WAS BUILT TO FILL.Rising Phoenix helps bridge those gaps — keeping the practical reality, the client and the wider professional team better aligned while providing direct support where it is needed.STEPHEN WILSON

HOW IT WORKS

HOW IT WORKS1) CONFIDENTIAL INITIAL DISCUSSION
We start with the situation — what is happening, who is involved, the immediate concerns, location, timeframe and what support may be needed.
2) SUITABILITY & NEXT STEP
Rising Phoenix assesses where it can add value and what the most appropriate next step may be. If Rising Phoenix is not the right fit, or cannot support the required timeframe or location, we will endeavour to identify a suitable alternative through our professional network.
3) CLEAR PLAN & COORDINATION
The scope of support, practical boundaries, logistics, communication and involvement of family, clinicians or other professionals are agreed before activation wherever circumstances allow.
4) ACTIVATION & SUPPORT
Support begins according to the agreed plan — whether in-home, live-in, during travel or transition, or remotely where appropriate. The approach adapts as the situation develops.
5) TRANSITION & CONTINUITY
Where appropriate, Rising Phoenix helps coordinate the next stage — whether that means treatment admission, returning home, engaging ongoing professional support or establishing a sustainable recovery structure.
For time-sensitive enquiries, WhatsApp is usually the fastest contact route.TREATMENT & FACILITY GUIDANCERising Phoenix maintains a growing international network of relationships across treatment, recovery and associated private-client care.Where possible, I continue to meet treatment teams and visit facilities internationally, developing a practical understanding of their programmes, environments and the types of clients they may be suited to support. If treatment is being considered, Rising Phoenix can help families navigate the options, ask the right questions and identify facilities that may be appropriate to the individual’s needs and circumstances. The objective is not simply to send someone somewhere. It is to help find the right next step.

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIESRising Phoenix provides non-clinical recovery and practical support. It does not replace medical, psychiatric or therapeutic care.Where clinical assessment or treatment is required, Rising Phoenix works alongside qualified professionals and can help coordinate appropriate escalation or additional support.

PRICING & ENGAGEMENTIN-PERSON / LIVE-IN SUPPORTFees are quoted privately following an initial discussion and reflect the duration, location, complexity, travel and logistics, and level of contact required.Travel, accommodation and operational expenses are agreed separately where applicable.REMOTE SUPPORTRemote support may be available for suitable clients, families and post-treatment step-down cases.Support can include structured check-ins, accountability, family or professional coordination, and planning around recovery, travel or transition. All engagements are agreed in advance with a clear scope, fees, boundaries and payment terms.

“What Families Ask Me Before They Reach Out”

Q1: You’ve gone from the military, hostile environments and close protection into recovery work. Why this?Because nothing I have done has tested me quite like this.I know what it is to be the person everyone is trying to help — psychiatrists, therapists, treatment centres, recovery professionals, family — while feeling that something fundamental is still being missed.I have sat on that side of the table. I have been surrounded by good people, serious resources and genuine attempts to help, and still remained trapped in the same destructive cycle. My previous life taught me how to operate under pressure, protect people, solve problems and keep functioning when circumstances become unpredictable. My recovery forced me to turn those skills inward and rebuild myself.I’ve protected billionaires and public figures and operated in environments where trust, discretion and getting things right genuinely mattered. But helping someone come back to life — and helping a family believe there may finally be a way forward — means more to me than any contract I have ever undertaken.Q2: What makes you different from other sober companions?I’ve had sober companions assigned to me before — including people brought in through some of the highest-end treatment environments in Los Angeles and Malibu. Some were experienced. Some genuinely cared. But none of them could reach the part of me that kept returning to the same destructive cycle.Something fundamental was being missed. They could see the behaviour. I was living what was underneath it — the resistance, bargaining, avoidance, fear, contradictions and the private moments nobody else saw.I know those places because I’ve been there.I’ve lived it. I’ve survived it. I’ve had to rebuild from it.Rising Phoenix was built from that experience — combined with military discipline, operational judgement, private-client discretion and the ability to remain effective when situations become complicated.I’m not there simply to watch someone, tick boxes or repeatedly tell them not to drink or use.I’m there to understand what is actually happening, find what may be getting missed, identify where the cracks are forming and help build a way forward that can survive real life.Q3: Will you be staying with my loved one?Where the situation calls for it, yes. I can provide live-in, high-contact support at home, in a hotel or private residence, while travelling, or through difficult transitions such as admission and discharge.Live-in support does not mean standing over someone 24 hours a day. It means being close enough to be useful when things actually become difficult — early mornings, late nights, missed appointments, sudden changes, cravings, resistance or the moments when a plan starts to unravel. The point is presence when it matters — not surveillance.Where full live-in support is not necessary, the level of contact can be tailored to the individual and the situation.Q4: Do you also provide personal assistance or protective support?Where appropriate, yes — but only where it supports the recovery plan. Rising Phoenix is not a standalone PA or security service. My background in executive close protection, private-client work and hostile environments means I can bring a higher level of discretion, situational awareness and practical support around travel, appointments, routines and sensitive transitions.Recovery remains the priority. The operational experience simply gives me more tools when the situation becomes complicated.Q5: Where are you based — and do you travel?I am UK / Australia based and available for rapid international deployment where the case is suitable.Travel is part of the work — whether that means joining a client at home, accompanying them to treatment, supporting a difficult transition, or relocating with them to an agreed location. If the situation requires me to get on a plane, I can.Q6: What does day-to-day support actually look like? There is no fixed template. The day is built around what the individual actually needs. That may mean structure, exercise, appointments, recovery commitments, work, practical responsibilities, recovery exercises, self-analysis, difficult conversations, travel, family contact — or simply being there when the day starts to unravel. The aim is not just to keep someone away from alcohol or drugs. It is to help them understand themselves more clearly, change the patterns that keep pulling them back, and rebuild a life they no longer need to escape from.Q7: Can I speak to you before committing?Absolutely. The first step is simply a private conversation — by phone, WhatsApp or video — to understand what is happening and whether Rising Phoenix is the right fit. There is no pressure to already know what service you need. Start with the situation. We can work from there. If Rising Phoenix is not the right answer, or I cannot support the timeframe or location you need, I will endeavour to help identify someone or somewhere more appropriate through my professional network.Still have a question I haven’t answered?Message me directly. I personally respond to enquiries and would rather have a conversation than leave a family wondering what to do next.

CONTACT & ENQUIRIESYou do not need to know exactly what support you need before getting in touch.Tell me what is happening, where you are, and what you are concerned about. We can work from there. All enquiries are confidential. I respond personally.WhatsApp: +61 492 246 774
